Mindboost Neuropsychological Services provides comprehensive evaluation and consultation services for children, adolescents, and young adults.

Research tells us that a neuropsychological assessment leads to more accurate diagnosis and specific interventions targeting the child’s unique challenges resulting in more efficient and positive outcomes. Our goal is to help you identify and enhance brain behavior abilities and help answer questions you have regarding cognitive, social-emotional, educational, and behavioral capabilities.  We offer highly specialized assessments to provide a deep understanding of how your child’s behavior is influenced by their brain functioning.  We understand the importance of getting your youth the help they need in a timely manner. Due to this, we make it our priority to schedule, assess, and provide you with the results of the assessment efficiently. We do not use techs or students, and you will directly work with your psychologist from start to finish.

Neuropsychological evaluations rely on clinical observations, thorough history taking, standardized tests, collateral information, and the interpretation and integration of the standardized measures used.  Our evaluations will determine not just what the nature of problems are but why difficulties are happening and specific recommendations on how to enhance functioning. We will also advocate for services at school or work for the individual, should there be a functional limitation due to a cognitive, learning, emotional, and/or behavioral difference.

Neuropsychological Assessment

What is a Neuropsychological Evaluation?

A neuropsychological assessment is an in-depth standardized assessment of understanding how the brain processes a variety of information impacting your behavior.  A comprehensive evaluation will provide a road map to how your brain works in order to formulate a customized plan that will help you maximize your thinking and processing abilities. It is also typically recommended from your medical or healthcare providers to obtain a neuropsychological assessment, should there be medical factors impacting functioning such as:

• Genetic disorders such as Fragile X, Turner syndrome, Klinefelter Syndrome, Prader-Willi, Velocardialfacial Syndrome, etc.
• Developmental lags (e.g., speech, language delays, fine/gross motor, etc.)
• Medical conditions such as seizures, traumatic brain injuries (e.g., concussions), cardiovascular difficulties, etc.

Psychoeducational Assessment

What is a Psychoeducational Evaluation?

A psychoeducational assessment is an in-depth standardized assessment of identifying how the brain processes a variety of information impacting one’s educational abilities.   An assessment will help the student and their caretakers understand what they will require to access the curriculum and have the necessary systems in place so they are not placed at a disadvantage and can demonstrate their true capabilities. If there is a question of attention, learning troubles, social emotional (e.g., test anxiety), or behavioral challenges, a psychoeducational assessment will be able to answer what components are impacting the student and what systems and/or resources should be in place. These difficulties may be due to:

• Learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)
• Attention disorders (e.g., ADHD)
• Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Intellectual disabilities

Consultation

When to seek a consultation?

Unsure of which assessment will be most helpful? This is where a consultation with a psychologist will be beneficial. If there are behavioral concerns at school and a full assessment may not be of interest, then a consultation will allow you to discuss other options.  Or, if you are unsure of what type of assessment is needed, then a consultation appointment may be helpful in deciphering what is best.  A consultation appointment can be used as part of the evaluation, should you move forward with one.  Additionally, we provide consultation and professional development services to schools and organizations.

We offer private school admission testing, please click on School Admission Testing page for more information.  These are typically a 90-120 minute appointments with an optional feedback appointment for parents.
