Special Education and IEP Training

Sat, Oct 3, 2009: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

To learn more about your rights and responsibilities under IDEA, come to PHP's IEP Training.

Why will it be helpful for you to attend this training?

The law, IDEA, gives parents rights, and the more informed you are
about your rights, the more effectively you can advocate for your
child's "unique educational needs" which the IEP is designed to
address. Knowing what to expect and what your options are will
facilitate your being a full participant in your child's education.

Who would benefit from attending this training?

If you are the parent or guardian of a child with a disability or a
provider to individuals who may need the supports and services of
Special Education.

What will be covered in this training?

* The Individualized Educational Program (IEP) process including:
* The assessment process, eligibility, and eligibility categories
* Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
* Least Restrictive Environment, mainstreaming supports,
* IEP development
* Goals and Related Service
* No Child Left Behind
* Accommodations and/or modifications
* IEP forms will be reviewed
