This workshop is a place for you to gain knowledge, training and skills to be an effective educational advocate for your child or children you work with. The chapters in the book: 'From Emotions to Advocacy, 2nd Edition' by Pete & Pam Wright are used as a basis of this workshop. To view the website click here.

A Newletter that is electronic will be sent out to those who sign up with links and a re-cap of the training. Sign up for the E-News about Educational Advocacy by clicking here. Check the box for the Education Advocacy Workshop. After you sign up a confirmation email will be sent to you and you must confirm to be added to the list.

About this workshop

Discussion will be encouraged during the workshop. Bring your own personal special education issues or successes to share with other group members. After the workshop you're welcome to stay from 8;30 to 9:30pm to connect with other parents/guardians in your district and community for support. If you are more experienced at advocacy, your support for new families is especially welcome.

This workshop currently meets each Fourth Thursday of the month. Please check the Events to ensure the meeting date and time. August 28th is the next workshop;

Advocacy Workshop from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm
Support and Sharing are from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

• On Parkmoor Avenue between Meridian Avenue & Race Street, just off
  Highway 280.
• Parking lot off Parkmoor side is safest when coming with children. There is
  additional parking off Race Street in the back of the building. From this back
  parking lot you have to walk across the light rail tracks to reach the building.
  A pedestrian barrier lowers when light rail is approaching.

Coffee, tea and a light dessert are provided. Any snack donations are welcomed. It will be very helpful if you attend at least one parent training on the IEP process prior to attending this workshop.
