Protect People with Disabilities During Police Interactions
People with disabilities have a 43% chance of arrest and make up more than 1/2 of those killed by U.S. law enforcement.
AB 2002 would create the Blue Envelope Program, which provides a communication tool to notify law enforcement of a person’s disability and accommodation needs during traffic stops, emergencies, and other routine service calls.

Increase Access to Dental Care for People with Disabilities
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities are more likely to lack access to dental care and are disproportionately at risk of developing chronic dental illnesses.
AB 2510 requires the Department of Developmental Services to establish a statewide program through the regional center system that will improve the provision of dental care services.

Prevent Homelessness for Older Adults & Adults with Disabilities
People with disabilities comprise about 43% of those experiencing homelessness. Many live on fixed incomes which are not adequate to cover rising rents.
The Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities Housing Stability Act (SB 37) provides rent subsidies targeted to older adults and adults with disabilities who are homeless or at high risk of experiencing homelessness.

Keep Critical Services for People with Disabilities
Decades of underfunding for disability services has weakened the direct care workforce serving people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Although the state legislature approved a $1 billion funding increase for critical disability supports and services for July 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom has proposed to delay this funding, furthering the severe shortage of services.
Ask legislators to reject the proposed delay and make the $1 billion investment in disability services this year!
