I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the South Bay area. I work collaboratively with children, adolescents and parents to help them use their strengths to overcome current challenges. I believe in a non-judgmental, down to earth approach of listening to your concerns and drawing upon my knowledge of effective treatments to address them.

I maintain a private practice and also am a director of Juniper Psychology Group, a group practice consisting of a team of excellent mental health clinicians (www.jpsygroup.com).

I provide the following services:

Individual Psychotherapy
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (Certified by PCIT International)
Parenting Guidance
Assessment
School Observation
Consultation

I take an integrative approach to helping by drawing from different treatment interventions to match each client’s age, personality and current challenges.  For some problems, there are specific, empirically-validated treatments shown by research to be effective.  When appropriate, I believe it is best to draw upon these approaches to maximize the therapeutic benefit of psychotherapy.

My treatment approaches include:

  • Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), certified by PCIT International
  • Behavior Modification
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy (CBPT)
  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy
  • Play Therapy

I specialize in helping to address challenges associated with:

  • Adoption  (helping children learn about their special place in their family and guiding parents on when and how to talk with children about being adopted)
  • Aggression
  • Anxiety  (including selective mutism, generalized anxiety, OCD, social anxiety and phobias)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Coping with chronic illness and/or painful medical procedures
  • Coping with the death of a loved one
  • Depression
  • Difficulty with transition to preschool or kindergarten
  • Shyness
