Katherine Peterson, Educational Psychologist
Partnership
For parents, when your child is struggling – academically, socially, or emotionally – having a partner can make all the difference. Through my many years of experience in the Bay Area as a school psychologist, counselor, administrator and parent, I have developed deep empathy for parents and students. Navigating school systems and processes can be daunting and I am here to help. I also appreciate the perspective of the schools and work in a highly collaborative spirit to ensure a team approach so that interventions will be successful.
Information is Power
When it comes to helping your child succeed, the more you know, the more you can do to help. Understanding the range of options in terms of school supports and accommodations, tutoring, and counseling will help families chart a course of action. Additionally, a psychoeducational assessment may be the right path for increased understanding, building self-efficacy and maximizing potential.
Katherine Peterson, Ph.D. is a licensed educational psychologist with a strong background in psychoeducational assessment, educational consultation and counseling. Using a combination of interviews, observations, and standardized testing, she identifies a child’s unique learning style and strives to help the family and the student understand and appreciate relative strengths and weaknesses. Her specialties include the diagnosis of learning disabilities/disorders, social and emotional problems, behavioral challenges, ADHD, and giftedness. Services also include parent consultation and student counseling regarding these issues.
