Interactive Metronome
Oakland RiteCare® Childhood Language Center offers an intervention that has been shown to improve speech/communication, coordination and learning in children suffering from a number of conditions including auditory processing disorders, sensory integration disorder, and communication disorders. Interactive Metronome © (IM) is a computer-based technology that encourages users to match the computer’s rhythm through motion, thereby improving their internal sense of timing. An increasing amount of scientific evidence demonstrates that the brain’s internal clock is integral to the development and maintenance of many cognitive, behavioral, social, and motor skills.
Both our therapist and clients find Interactive Metronome to be challenging yet fun therapy that keeps their attention, and produces significant results.
Fast ForWord
Oakland RiteCare Childhood Language Center provides Fast ForWord programs to improve LISTENING OR READING SKILLS:
Does your child…
Misunderstand what you say?
Request that information be repeated?
Give slow or delayed responses?
Use only a few descriptive words when speaking?
Seem reluctant to engage in conversations?
Have difficulty reconstructing a story in its appropriate order?
Struggle with decoding or reading comprehension?
Brain Fitness and Optimal Learning Equation
Neuroscience research has proven that brain exercises focused on Memory, Attention, Processing Rate and Sequencing coupled with research-based instruction accelerates learning.
The Listening Program
This music-based auditory stimulation program combines beautiful classical music and innovative acoustically modified sound progressing techniques to remediate sound hypersensitivity, listening skills, sensory regulation, learning, speech and language skills, and vestibular function. This program is especially appropriate for children who are not yet ready for the more structured and intensive Interactive Metronome and Fast ForWord programs
All of the above is provided at NO COST to the children we serve or their families.
