Wisconsin Family Assistance Center for Education, Training & Support, Inc. (WI FACETS) is a nonprofit organization serving Wisconsin children and adults with disabilities, their families and those who support them. We were founded in 1995 by parents who believed that parents are the best advocates for their children. WI FACETS operates the following programs to help parents, professionals and others support and enrich the lives of children with disabilities:

Services

WI FACETS provides several types of services to help Wisconsin parents and educators support and enrich the lives of children with disabilities.

Help Desk

We are available to help with your questions about programs, services and resources. We can assist by providing you with information and referrals to other programs/agencies. We can also help you brainstorm options and solutions. We do not provide legal advice or legal representation. Call toll-free 1-877-374-0511.

Individual Assistance

We provide free one-to-one support to parents and professionals by phone and in-person. This includes providing a very limited amount of in-person support for families at school special education related meetings and mediations. When parents ask for in-person support, our ability to attend meetings and mediations is based on the issues involved, staff availability, and grant funds available. We are not able to attend due process hearings or resolution sessions. The first step to accessing in-person individual assistance is contacting the Help Desk, at 1-877-374-0511.

Youth

WI FACETS is committed to assisting youth and young adults develop the knowledge and skills they need to feel confident advocating for their own preferences and future goals.  Our Help Desk (1-877-374-0511) is here to answer any questions young adults may have about their IEPs or 504 Plans, and transition to postsecondary education or work. We have online resources for young adults with disabilities which you can access on our Resources Page.  We also offer various trainings that young adults may benefit from.  Check out our Training Page for upcoming workshops and recordings of those that have already been held.

Parent Leadership Training

We provide leadership training and support to parents who are interested in making a difference at the local, statewide and national level.

Some upcoming free leadership trainings provided by FACETS are:

  • Orientation to the Parent Ambassador Program (virtual trainings): Tuesday September 17th 4-5 pm or Thursday September 19th 1-2 pm
  • The Parent Leadership Conference, hosted at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells, October 5th, 9am – 3:30 pm

WI FACETS also occassionally hosts Serving on Groups trainings for families working in decision-making groups. More information is avaible on the Serving on Groups website, and upcoming trainings are listed on our calendar.
