Parents of individuals with disabilities often worry about the future, especially when they are no longer able to act as primary caregivers. Similarly, siblings share these concerns, as they frequently become the successor caregivers for their loved ones. Yet, conversations about planning for the future often remain unspoken. Join us to learn about the importance of including siblings in preparing for adulthood for your child with a disability.
The California Sibling Leadership Network is the official state chapter of the nationwide Sibling Leadership Network. Their mission is to build a network of information, support, and advocacy resources and to empower “Sibs” to thrive throughout all stages of life.
Please join Liza Stack and Julie Neward from The California Sibling Leadership Network as they discuss:
– The vital role siblings play in supporting their brothers and sisters with disabilities
– The unique sibling relationship, which parallels the parents’ experience
– Considering siblings’ perspectives, interests, and expectations in future planning
Come learn how to offer understanding, advocacy, and practical assistance to siblings who support their brothers and sisters with disabilities during transition to adulthood and in adulthood.
This webinar will provide live Spanish interpretation.
If you need accommodations to participate in the training or assistance with registration, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]. We typically require 10 days to arrange accommodations to ensure your inclusion.
