Learn how work impacts an individual’s ability to access Supplemental Security Income through the Social Security Administration.
“It’s important to be aware that paid employment will have an impact on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. However, it’s possible to work and receive some SSI benefits. This training addresses how the Social Security Administration (SSA) will reduce SSI benefits using the “countable income calculation” when the person receiving benefits has earned income. Also included, reducing the value of wages through Impairment Related Work Expenses (IRWE).
Presented by Daniel Fortuno, President and CEO of the Benefits Education Center, and learn how SSI/SSDI recipients can preserve benefits when employed. Daniel Fortuño has over 30 years of experience in training, counseling, and education in health care and benefits administration. As a national expert on disability benefits, he is highly skilled in interpreting public and private health and welfare benefits programs. Mr. Fortuño has worked in eleven states across the country and has trained and counseled over 20,000 individuals and providers during his career.
