How to Apply to In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)

IHSS services are only available to people receiving MediCal, including those receiving services under the Regional Center Waiver program. Your child can live in your home or in his or her own home and still get this service. You may even be paid as a service provider. Your child does not have to live in a skilled care facility. If you are considering applying for the Assisted Living program, it is necessary to use this service before receiving Assisted Living benefits if eligible.

If your child is on IHSS – is he or she getting the right hours of service according to appropriate benefits and needs? Services are provided based on need and may include:
Housework services (vacuuming, dusting, etc.)
Related services (meal preparation, shopping, errands, etc.)
Clean up, and ensure the safety of the garden
and Protective supervision
