February 14, 2025 6:00pm to April 22, 2025 7:30pm
Please join us for the following set of webinars as part of our training initiative to educate providers and parents regarding prenatal drug and alcohol exposure and the effect that it has on the mother and child (especially Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). These FREE webinars will focus on:
- The brain basis of children’s learning and behavioral challenges due to prenatal drug and alcohol exposure.
- The normal learning process and how prenatal drug and alcohol exposure disrupts that process.
- Strategies for managing children’s behaviors at home and in the classroom.
This webinar series is a joint venture between County of Santa Clara: Behavioral Health Services Department – Prevention Services Division, Public Health Department – Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program, Department of Family and Children’s Services- Resource Family (RFA) Program, the Learning Partnership and the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Workgroup.
The trainer: Dr. Ira Chasnoff and staff from NTI Upstream. Dr. Chasnoff is an award-winning author, researcher and lecturer, is president of NTI Upstream and a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He is one of the nation’s leading researchers in the field of child development and the effects of environmental factors on the developmental trajectory of children and adolescents. Dr. Chasnoff’s work encompasses community approaches to the integration of behavioral health services into primary health care, the schools, and the other multiple systems that serve children and families.
Please note that there is a separate set of webinars for providers ( Medical professionals, social workers, teachers, auxiliary staff, counselors etc.) and another set for parents. Both sets of webinars cover similar topics. So that parents/ caregivers feel comfortable sharing their stories, cases, struggles etc., we request that providers do not register for the parent trainings.
It is highly recommended that you attend all four webinars because each builds on information presented in the previous sessions.
