The Family Resource Center (FRC) of San Mateo County invites parents and caregivers to this online training, presented by Kidpower.
In this program, learn and practice safety skills to protect and empower our children and youth to stay safe from harm and help them develop healthy relationships.
We’ll practice ways to:
• Teach kids age-appropriate skills and strategies for taking charge and advocate for themselves
• Coach & practice skills focused on possibilities rather than limitations
• Adapt skills for kids’ abilities related to speech, movement, vision, hearing, and cognition.
Skills to help kids include:
• Using awareness, calm and confidence
• Recognizing what is safe and not safe
• Setting and respecting clear boundaries
• Protecting their feelings
• Persisting to get help’
