Meet and Greet with First Responders

Brought to you by the Stanford Autism Center and Stanford Parenting Center

Come out and join us for this community building event with local first responders! Encounters with first responders can be challenging and intimidating, especially for our neurodiverse groups who may have communication differences, sensory processing challenges, and display unique behaviors. The event is an opportunity for neurodiverse individuals to interact with first responders in a safe and fun environment and become familiar with their safety equipment. All ages and neurotypes are welcome.

Dr. Jessika Hurts and Officer Brian Simmons, presented a webinar “Preparing Individuals with Autism for Encounters with Law Enforcement” in May 2023 to help families learn what to do and expect during these interactions. If you missed the webinar, you can watch it here: https://t.ly/cxvw4
